Hi Don,

We use Bravenet because it is a no-fee service. This endeavor is being launched on the thinnest of shoestrings and this forces us to avoid fee-based services. No, Bravenet is not paying us -- not dime one -- but they don't cost us anything either. My hope is that The Red Hen Association will be able to exist and grow without any charge to the members. We are trying to sustain ourselves through other means. Endowments, gratuities, donnations, gifts, or advice are all welcome :)

As for Bravenet, I guess they feel that they have to get something for nothing. In this case they are promoting their domain names and web services. Are their services good? I don't really know.

Bill;

Just got an e-mail to confirm my membership. But the link took me to some site that wanted to sell domain names and web service...Bravenet or something. So what's the deal...you get so much per click? Are you here to help writers or to help yourself?

Bill, great post! You are absolutely correct about the overwhelming nature of technology. The trick is that you don't need to understand everything or use everything. Read up a bit on the tech topics and tools that interest you, and decide which ones are relevant to your business and your life. Throw away the rest. there will be plenty more tomorrow.

Loved your poem too! Ahhh, the good ol' days...

I welcome any of your readers to contact me to gain a greater understand of how to create and maintain a blog, how to incorporate social media, and other tactics for promoting one's online visibility.

Copywriters and freelance writers should join The Copywriters Business Network, at www.TCBNetwork.ning.com. It's the first social network created exclusively for copywriters!

Carry on, Bill! You're doing a terrific job :)
