Currently, my book proposal is at a publishing house who does photography books, as mine is a book of photos and prose. I have not heard from them in four months, and on their website, they say that an unsolicited manuscript takes about three months before they review it. I am hopeful that they are in the debating stage. However, you present a nice argument for me to do it myself. I actually belong to the Bay Area Independent Publishers Association, so have a wealth of knowledge at my fingertips about how to self-publish.
